Thermal transfer overprinting
Match the ribbon, film surface and web motion.
Thermal transfer overprinting belongs in the film-path discussion. The coder, packaging machine and consumable supplier need to agree on the printable face, supported area and print trigger. A digital message can change without a physical type change, but its location and legibility still depend on the installed station.
Use the TTO interface guide before approving a new film or a replacement coder. Record continuous or intermittent web movement, the intended print zone and what a coding fault should do to the line. Keep a printed approved sample alongside the message revision.
